Yoga On The Beach is Back!
Come experience the magic!
Fridays @ 10am
Maritime Museum Beach in Glen Haven
“There is something rather spiritual – some students call it ‘magical’ – about witnessing wildlife do its thing during a yoga class. The wind in the trees, the call of a loon, or the presence of a beautiful monarch butterfly reminds us that we are connected to all beings, and keeps us rooted in the present moment so that we can bring our focus more inward.”
Amy Hubbell, Yoga on the Beach Instructor
Yoga on the Beach is one of the truly magical experiences sponsored by Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes. Taught by Amy Hubbell, an experienced outdoor yoga instructor, who leads all kinds of immersive yoga experiences. Yoga on the Beach is a fit for all students, from beginners to advanced, who want to take advantage of the beach setting while building strength, both mental and physical. Yoga increases flexibility, but it offers so much more. Amy also describes the increased spiritual awareness that my husband and I both feel when we do Yoga on the Beach to feel the sun and breeze and being in quiet community with yoga classmates, is a unique and sublime offering in our exquisite park.
Yoga on the Beach is a business supporter of Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, and we are grateful to Amy for her partnership and financial support. These popular beach yoga classes are offered on a donation basis, with proceeds benefiting both Yoga on the Beach and Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes. A suggested donation to Yoga on the Beach of $15–$25 is appreciated, though participants are encouraged to contribute whatever fits their budget. Amy reminds us that “no pain, no gain” is not part of the yoga philosophy, so grab your towel, and maybe a friend and join us on the beach in front of the Maritime Museum in Glen Haven on Fridays at 10AM for some enriching poses in the best “yoga studio” nature offers!
