Visit the Park

Hike, bike, and pitch in to check the trails and beaches—plus score stickers, swag, and trail-loving fun for all!

Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes is inviting everyone to join in celebrating National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7, in Glen Haven, along the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.  National Trails Day is the nation’s largest trails event, with millions participating across the country, pledging to care for our public lands. The event will take place between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. in Glen Haven. A park pass is required to participate.

Whether a current Friends volunteer or new to the organization, all are invited to help the Friends report on every trail within the Park during the event. Participants may also bike the Heritage Trail or visit our table at Good Harbor Beach this year. To participate, visit the Friends tent set up on Heritage Trail to register. Participants will receive the Friends’ hiking trail guide, fun stickers and swag from the American Hiking Society (while supplies last.) Participants will also learn about additional opportunities to support the Park and volunteer with the Friends. This is a registered event in partnership with the American Hiking Society.

The National Trails Day event is a fantastic opportunity for family and friends to get out and enjoy the Park.
