lend a hand in keeping our rivers pristine!

Summer is rolling in and it’s time for the Lower Platte River Clean-up!  Let’s keep our rivers clean. 

Tuesday, June 23rd at 9:00 am

We will meet at the Platte River Picnic Area kayak launch on Lake Michigan Rd, at M-22. It is located across the river from Riverside Canoe.  Meet in the parking lot at 9:00 am. We’ll begin with a brief welcome/orientation and tools needed for the task, and we’ll prepare to begin the clean-up.  Riverside Canoe will provide transportation to drop off vehicles at the end and kayaks, if you need one.

Also, please specify whether you are bringing your own boat or one is needed. We'll also have “grabbers" and volunteer vests for your use if you don’t have them.

Kayaks can be provided by Riverside Canoe (let us know if you want a two-passenger), but you can bring your own if you desire. If you bring your own kayak, bring it to the meeting point. We will drop cars at the end and get shuttled back to the start.  A light Lunch will be provided after the clean-up. 

Good things to bring with you:

• Orange Volunteer Vest

• Grabber (if you have one)

• Shoes, or something for your feet, you never know what's under the water should you tip over

• Sunscreen

• Bug Spray

• Water

• Hat and or sunglasses
