Bloom Spring
Habitat Swamps, edges of streams or ponds
Status Native
Cycle Perennial

Flower Many conspicuous flowers 0.5-1.5" wide with 5-9 bright yellow petals.
Leaf Leaves are round, shiny toothless basal leaves 2-7" wide with long stalks and a deep notch where the stalk attaches.  Upper leaves are stalkless.
Notes More likely to be found in colonies blanketing somewhat extensive areas rather than as individual plants.  The common name comes from the fact that the plant grew on the hummocks and cows slipped on it when they went to the stream to drink.
