Flowers are at the tip of an
erect flower stalk that rises from the ground level, is leafless, hollow,
and exudes a milky juice when broken. They appear to be 1 large yellow
flower, 1.5" across but is actually a composite of many tiny flowers
clustered together. |

Leaves form a basal rosette and
are deeply cleft forming pointed lobes facing toward the base of the plant. |
| Notes |
The flowers open in
the morning and close in the afternoon. Globe-like seed heads have
soft hair-like bristles that resemble tiny parachutes to carry the seeds
away on the wind. |
