| Wildflowers of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National
Lakeshore Like many visitors to the Sleeping
Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, I enjoy spending time hiking through the woods or along a lake shore, kayaking in rivers and lakes, and biking on back roads and trails. I'll often stop to enjoy just being in the midst of
the natural beauty — and wish that I had brought my camera.
When confronted with a new flower, my first impulse is to learn its name. I hope that this web site will provide a quick reference to the flowers in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to make the identity search easier. The flowers have been categorized by color and season of bloom.
To open the database, just click
on one of the links on the left to see a summary of flowers in each color
category. After you open a summary page, click on the more link below the name of
a flower to open a page with more information and pictures of the flower.
If you are using a dial-up modem connection to the
internet, these pages may be slow to load due to the large number of pictures.
