Flower Flowers have 5 white petals, the lower 3 are marked at their base with conspicuou, fine brown-pruple veins.  The back side of the petals is tinged blue or purple.  The center of the flower is yellow.  Flowers and leaves are on the same stalk.
Leaf Leaves are found on the stem and at the base of the plant.  They are heart-shaped 1-3" wide with saw-tooth margins.
Notes Stems are smooth to somewhat downy.  Canada violets tend to grow in colonies from above ground runners
