Flowers have 5 white petals, the
lower 3 are marked at their base with conspicuou, fine brown-pruple veins.
The back side of the petals is tinged blue or purple. The center of
the flower is yellow. Flowers and leaves are on the same stalk. |

Leaves are found on the stem and
at the base of the plant. They are heart-shaped 1-3" wide with
saw-tooth margins. |

Stems are smooth to
somewhat downy. Canada violets tend to grow in colonies from above
