Flowers are single, large white
flowers about 1.5" wide with 8-10 petals and a golden yellow center.
Each flower is on its own pinkish stalk. Flowers close in the cold or
cloudy weather |

Leaves arise from the base of
the plant and are large and rounded about 4-7" wide. The margin is
wavy to coarsely toothed. |
| Notes |
Stems are smooth,
erect, leafless and contain a red juice that can cause a rash or blistering
of the skin. This is one of the earliest flowers to bloom, flowering
well before trees leaf out. |
