Height 2-4 feet
Flower Scarlet red flowers on a tall open spike.  Flowers alternate on a stem with the bottom flowers opening before the upper. They have 5 narrow petals with 2 upper and 3 spreading lower petals which unite to form a thin tube at its base.
Leaf Leaves are toothed lance shaped up to 6" long.
Notes Stems are usually upright, unbranched and smooth but may be slightly hairy.
