Flowers are dangling, single
orange blossoms with reddish brown spots. Each flower has a large open
mouth that leads to a long thin sharp-curved tube. Flowers are about
1" long. |

| Notes |
Stems are smooth
and succulent with many branches, which exude a watery sap if broken. The
sap can sooth the sting of Poison Ivy or nettles. Mature seed pods burst
suddenly when touched. This is an important nectar plant for hummingbirds.
