Flower Flowers are large, dangling orange flowers 2-3" wide with 6 petals (actually 3 sepals and 3 petals). There are typically several flowers per plant.
Leaf Leaves are a whorl of narrow lance-shaped leaves.
Notes This is a showy lily of the woodland habitats, which is also called Turk's-cap Lily was once common along country roads. It has decreased due to mowing and draining of ditches. It grows from a large underground bulb, which used to be gathered by Native Americans for food.
