A
group of area women posed on the Ole Olsen Farm. Charles and Hattie
Olsen bought this farm from Charles’ father Ole. They didn’t have much
money, but “farms weren’t expensive in those days,” explains Loraine. After
a few years of farming here, they moved to the old Dechow log cabin that
stood west of the Klett Farm. That property included the site of the home
they later built across the road, which now houses Preserve Historic
Sleeping Bear. The land was better there, and the location along the
highway was good for selling produce.
