The Thoresons always seemed
to have a full house. “Ma was a good cook & everybody liked her cookin’, I
guess.” Friends and neighbors would come for a meal or a season. When
Herman Prause was staying at the nearby Brammer Farm doing chores (“They
didn’t have a thing”), his son Wilmer would come by and say, “Well Ma, what
can I do?” Louise always found some chore for him to do to earn dinner.
One winter when she heard that neighbor Lyle Miller had taken ill, she told
Leonard’s brother, “John, go take the team & sleigh and go get him.” He
ended up staying the winter. |
