2007 e-Mail Decisions

Since our board typically does not meet from October to May, there are often decisions which must be made between meetings. The board has found e-mail communications to be most effective in making timely decisions through e-mail proposals and votes by board members. The following decisions were made via e-mail votes in 2007.

October 19, 2007 - In our board meeting on October 17, 2007 we discussed 6 brooms that were given to the Friends by one of the Port Oneida Fair exhibitors this year. We decided to donate the brooms to the Park for use in some of the historic buildings in Port Oneida. Upon discussing this with Park staff, we learned that the brooms were donated to be used to raise funds to support the Friends. As a result, through an e-mail vote, we decided to put the brooms up for sale on our web site.

October 25, 2007 - In our board meeting on October 17, 2007 we discussed a request by Park Staff for a new computer for GIS mapping and analysis. We decided at that time to get more details from the Park on their requirements and to ask our Treasurer, John McCombs, to work with Park Staff to determine specifications and make a recommendation. Via e-mail, John recommended the following:

HP Computer w/4 Processors
All-in-one HP Printer ( not reqested , but part of the package deal)
19" Flat Screen Monitor
3 GB memory with 1 GB added for 4 GB total
512 GB video card upgrade
Office 2007 Software

The cost was just over $1700. The board approved this purchase via e-mail.
